Andreas "Andy" Wenhardt, age 82 of Oshkosh, died at Mercy Medical Center on Thursday, July 7, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born in Gyorkony, Hungary to Johann and Rosina (Schwigert) Wenhardt on October 21, 1928. He came to the United States on April 26, 1952 on the ship General Muir. On June 26, 1954 he married Lieselotte Sass in Grace Lutheran Church of Oshkosh.
Andy was a hard worker. Among other places he worked at Brandt's and Valley Manufacturing. He loved woodworking, spending time with his children and grandchildren, friends, gardening, dancing, sledding, and music, he would even sing. He participated in the Oshkosh Soccer Club. And foremost, he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Surviving Andy is his wife of 57 years, Lieselotte; children: Ingrid (Richard) Meilahn, Joachin (Connie) Wenhardt, Rosina Wenhardt, Heidi Wenhardt-Cook, Martin Wenhardt, Peter (Paula) Wenhardt, Lisa Wenhardt-Sheppard, and Christine Wenhardt-Gauger; grandchildren: Renee and Michele (Miah);Tiffany and Carissa; Scott, Christopher (Elda), and Wendy (Scott); Benjamin, Bianca, and Amanda; Heather (Matthew), Adam, Kylie, Nikita, and Martin II; Brittany, Emily, and Nick; Michael; and Katarina and Brock; 11 great-grandchildren; Andy's sister, Elisabeth Pamer; sister-in-law, Rose Wenhardt; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johann Jr. and Adam Wenhardt; and sister, Rosina Marodi.
Funeral services for Andy will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska Street. A time for visiting and sharing support and memories will be held at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
