Ann Egan
Shirley Ann Egan, age 70, left behind her life of courage and generosity on April 26, 2007. She was born on February 10, 1937 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late J. "Pete" and Muriel (McLaughlin) Thomas. She married Richard "Dick" Egan on July 6, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Omro. Ann was a special lady who dealt with life as it came; her determination to overcome polio gave her the compassion and understanding to reach out to others and assist them in their time of need. She worked as a nurse for Dr. McDonald for many years. Ann was happiest when she was surrounded by children, and shared of herself by being a Cub Scout Den Leader and a trapping instructor.
Ann had a life long love of the outdoors. Moose hunting in Canada, canoeing in the Boundary Waters, deer hunting, making maple syrup; if it took her outside, she loved it. Ann had a deep appreciation of nature and love of all God's creatures. This was evidenced by her love of flower gardening, butterflies, raising animals like sheep, raccoons, deer, crows and squirrels. She also enjoyed crafts, reading old books, and painting with friends.
Ann is lovingly survived by her husband, Dick; her sons, Dennis (Nancy) Egan of Green Bank, WV, and Dr. Jack (Evelyn) Egan of Fort Lauderdale, Fl; grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, Mark, and Sara; brother, James (Joyce) Thomas of Omro, and sister, Kathleen (James) Campbell of Georgia; sisters in law, Nan (Andy) Amend and Marilyn (Jack) Sullivan, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Larsen; father and mother in law, Owen and Grace Egan; brother in law, David Egan; sisters in law, Bernice Pryne and Doris Kroll.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4-8 P.M. with a short prayer service at 8:00 P.M. Visitation will then continue on Monday, April 30, 2007 in Marion Hall at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Omro, from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M.
