Anthony F. Kearns, age 62, of New Port Richey, FL, lost a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday morning March 9, 2006 at Gulfside Regional Hospice. He was born January 9, 1944, in Milwaukee, WI., the son of August and Rose (Ossowski) Kearns. Tony was an entertainer, playing bass/lead guitar in various bands during the 50's, 60's, and 70's. He graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. He also served time in the Army Reserves. He worked as an Accountant at Hughes Aircraft in California before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his favorite baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies, playing music, and he was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Tony is loved and will be missed by his wife, Gene (Krause) Kearns, whom he married June 17, 1967 in Milwaukee; daughters, Connie (Kearns) Buckner and Christine Kearns; granddaughters, Brittny and Shannon Buckner all of New Port Richey, FL; brothers, August John Kearns of California and James Kearns of Florida; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, August Kearns, his mother, Rose (Ossowski) Gerbitz and one brother, Roger Kearns.
A time of gathering and visitation will be held at the funeral home in Omro on Monday, March 13, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m with a graveside service and burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Auroraville.
