Barbara S. Hodge, age 82, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday morning, June 15, 2011, at her home. Born on April 9, 1929, in Oshkosh to William R. and Katherine (Hartman) Smith, Barbara married Clarence S. Hodge on September 27, 1951, in Oshkosh. Clarence preceded Barbara in death on June 17, 2008.
A member of Wyldewood Baptist Church, Barbara's family was an important part of her life. She was also a member of Pickett Steam & Gas Engine Club and as a fair volunteer in the Expo Building for the 4-H exhibits. Traveling, camping, and ceramics were relaxing activities for Barbara.
Left to mourn her passing are three daughters, April (Benjamin) Downs of Ripon, Gail (Donald) Wojahn of Larsen, and Peggy Hodge of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, Tracy Young, Benji Downs, Dan Wojahn, Peter (Kathryn) Downs, Katherine Hodge, Connie (Robbie) Weinfurter, Becky(Curtis) Ackley, and Alan Bahr; great-grandchildren, Brittany Young, Summer Downs, Parker Downs, Chloe Downs, Evan Downs, and Ryan Ackley, Brooklynn Ackley, and Jack Piette; and a great-great-grandson, Cain Davis. Preceding Barbara in death is her husband, parents, and two siblings, Lucille Springer and Richard Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Reverend Randall King officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.
