Bert worked in Wisconsin Rapids at Consolidated Consoweld plant, later at J.C. Penney office in Appleton, and then at Marathon in Neenah. On November 29, 1958, she married Robert A. Butkiewicz of Omro, Wisconsin, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. They lived in Omro and after the birth of their son, Russell in 1960; she helped her husband with office work at F. Butkiewicz & Sons Co. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, Winnebago Homemakers, Lakeshore Ladies Tuesday Golf League and Wednesday Winro Golf League.

Also a favorite pastime was playing Bridge, a game she loved and she served as a volunteer at the Oshkosh Senior Center for the open Bridge held on Fridays. She was an avid bowler, serving as President and Past President of the Wisconsin Women's Bowling Association. She did volunteer work at Mercy Medical Center in many different areas over the years. She was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and UW Badgers football teams, listening and watching all televised games.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Omro; son, Dr. Russell (wife Kari Esbensen) Butkiewicz; three granddaughters, Hannah, Maleva and Sophia Butkiewicz, all of Waupaca, Wisconsin; a Godson, Robert Boettcher of Middleton, Wisconsin and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers. After cremation her ashes will be retained to be co-mingled, at his passing, with those of her husband and then dispersed to the four winds.

There will be a time of gathering and sharing of loving memories for family and friends on Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the Omro Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
