On Wednesday, August 2, 2006, Bess Hronis, age 91 of Oshkosh, crossed over The Rainbow Bridge. She was born in Illinois to Dan and Ann (Gianakopolos) Karagianis on July 28, 1915. On September 6, 1936 she married Sam Hronis in Milwaukee, he preceded her in death earlier this year on April 5, 2006.
Bess was the kindest, most gentle, sweetest soul you could meet. She was compassionate and forgiving. Her whole life revolved around her children, husband and grandchildren. She was adored by her family, who will remember all the fine Greek food she prepared and great times around the meal table. Bess always saw the good in everyone and was loved and touched by all who knew her. Bess was the best listener in the world and our biggest cheerleader. Sam was her life partner and through all the ups and downs, moves to Milwaukee, Wautoma and Oshkosh, remained together for 70 years. Mother loved her flowers, all animals, baking, cooking, our endless gab sessions, and the fine coffee we overindulged in daily.
Survivors include two daughters: Nikki Hronis of Oshkosh and Evelyn (Robert) Struzinski of Arizona; three grandchildren: Dr. Lynn Blair, Christine Knake, and Bobby Struzinski; sisters-in-law: Mary Leeser and Betty Karagianis; and her favorite grandcat: Pooker. Preceding Bess in death are her husband Sam; her parents; brothers: James and John Karagianis; three brothers-in-law: Gust Hronis, Alex Hronis, and James Hronis; and sister-in-law: Christine Hronis. Bess is further survived by special friends and neighbors Trina and Jim Maclean, Captain Johnny Harsh, Wes and Sue Kranz, Barb Gabrielson, Diane Hartman, Marge Krenz and her special pen pal, David Danielson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 12, 2006, at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, with Captain Johnny Harsh officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of remembrance and support that will be held at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
