Carl G. Raddatz, age 91, passed away in his sleep at home, on October 19, 2012, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Carl was born on November 3, 1920, the son of Carl and Bertha Raddatz in Berlin, WI. On March 25, 1944, he married the love of his life, Alice Rajsky. Together they raised two daughters, Nancy Jean, born in 1945 and Judith Ann, born in 1953.

Carl worked at a variety of places throughout his life, including Buckstaff, Universal Foundry, Sears and the City of Oshkosh Street Department, from which he retired at age 62. Carl was active in labor unions his entire life, and was a charter member of the City of Oshkosh Local 796, where he rose to the office of president. He attended union sponsored training and was extremely knowledgeable in workers' rights, insurance issues and labor law. Carl worked for many years doing landscape work, partly to supplement the family income, but mostly because he loved it. His work was beautiful and many times his wife, Alice, helped.

Carl loved Big Bands, especially the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and saw all the "greats" numerous times. He loved to dance, and he and his wife never hesitated to hit the dance floor when they heard a song they loved. Carl also loved to travel, and he and Alice visited most of the United States, visiting Las Vegas 30 times and many winters in Florida. They also took an extended trip to Canada.

Golf was Carl's passion, learning at an early age by caddying for experienced players. He could be found practicing his chip shots in the backyard. In his younger years, he played with a regular foursome of friends at the Muny, then meeting his family at Repp's afterward.

Carl is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alice; and daughter, Judy. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy; and two wonderful dogs, Lucky and Andrew Tyrone.

Visitation will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home on Monday, October 22, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be private.

Carl was a wonderful husband, father, co-worker and friend. He was honest and hard working, loved his country and his family, and did his best at all times. He will be forever loved.
