Clara H. Bearwald of Oshkosh, died peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Bethel Home. She was 94 years old. Clara was born to Paul and Lena (Beckman) Giese on March 25, 1912 in Black Wolf, Wisconsin and was one of seven children. She later met Clarence E. Bearwald and they were joined in marriage on January 14, 1933 in the Town of Nekimi. Clarence preceded Clara in death on April 18, 1994.

Clara was known as a wonderful cook. She worked for Wirtz's Restaurant for twelve years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, and great-great grandmother. She especially enjoyed the activities at Bethel Home. She took part in making the decorations for the Bethel Home's winning parade floats. The floats she helped decorate also appeared in other surrounding area parades. Clara joined other members at Bethel Home to see their finished work in the parades.

Clara is survived by her daughter: Betty (Donald) Hinz of Van Dyne, two sons: Robert (Mary Ann) Bearwald and David (Eunice) Bearwald, both of Oshkosh, one brother-in-law: Harvey Bearwald of Fond du Lac, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, and one son: Orland Bearwald. Orland was the first soldier from the Oshkosh area to die for his country while in Vietnam in 1965. Clara was also preceded in death by her sister: Lida Wrchota of Oshkosh, her brother: Alvin Giese of Van Dyne, and four other siblings that preceded her in their youth.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2006 at 6:00 PM at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels - Oregon Street Chapel, 1025 Oregon Street, Oshkosh. Pastor Nathan Ericson is officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Park.

A memorial has been established in Clara's name for Martin Luther Church and Bethel Home.

The family would like to extend a warm, heart-felt thank you to the nursing staff of 1W at Bethel Home and also the VNA Hospice Staff for their loving care to Clara during her time of need.
