Clarice Philena Ahrens, age 88, of Oshkosh died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Bethel Home. She was born June 26, 1917 in Waupaca to Glenn and Veda (Tarr) Sutton. Clarice married John E. Ahrens on July 12, 1941. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1990.
Clarice was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and The National Catholic Order of Foresters. During her earlier years, she was employed as a cook/housekeeper by the famous artist and former curator of the Oshkosh Public Museum, Nile and Ethel Behnke. She also worked in manufacturing at various factories including Victrylite Candle Co. and S.N.C. Mfg. Before retiring in 1972, she worked as a cook's assistant at Bethel Home. Clarice loved visiting with family and friends, traveling, playing the piano and organ, gardening, and after she and John retired, they enjoyed fishing and spending time at their "get-a-way" in Waupaca.
Survivors include: her daughter Marcie (David) Conklin of Oshkosh; one sister and brother-in-law: Goldie and Blackie (Hubert) Sohm; nieces: Kathleen (David) Thill of Oshkosh, and Karen Wynveen of Sheboygan; and nephews Daniel Dennin and Michael (Sarah) Dennin of Oshkosh. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Clarice was preceded in death by two brothers: Duane and Phillip Sutton; two sisters: Mildred Sutton and Belva (Ambrose) Dennin; and one daughter, Patricia Lynn Ahrens.
Funeral services for Clarice will be at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. A time of visitation and support will be held at the Funeral Chapel, TODAY, June 22, 2006 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and also on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
