Obituary

Cooper “Coop Dawg” Douglas McBride, age 5, passed away on the morning of May 1, 2026. He was born on June 24, 2020, to parents, Kevin Joseph McBride and Kayla Lynn (Tyson) McBride, and brother Finley, in Wisconsin. Our little superhero, the light in darkness always brought us love, joy, laughter with a side of spunk.
He also loved playing outside and exploring in nature, always wanting to be independent and borderline feral at times. But when he loved, he loved with everything he had. Coop always had a way of making you smile when times were tough. He was strong and brave and his snuggles and hugs were the best.
Cooper loved to draw and play with his brother and best friend, Finley. The boys would play video games together, run around and dance for hours. Even though they had their moments, they never wanted to be apart, but if they had to be, homecomings were grand.
He is survived by his parents, Kevin Joseph McBride and Kayla Lynn (Tyson) McBride; brother, Finley; maternal grandparents, Douglas and Laura Tyson; paternal grandparents, Jeff and Mary McBride; aunts, Lindsey Tyson (Lachlann), Erin (Jason) Hensler and Theresa (Ryan) Fryjoff; uncles, Spencer Tyson and Ryan McBride; cousins, Elise, Oliver, Leah and Jacob; his puppy, Cookie; teachers, Mrs. Mathe and Mrs. Miller and many classmates and friends.
Preceding him in death were numerous relatives and his beloved dog, Daisy.
Visitation will be held at Seefeld Funeral Home, 1025 Oregon St., Oshkosh, WI, 54902, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, with a time for sharing stories and messages at 1:00pm. Wearing bright colors, your favorite character, superhero outfit or cape is encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Cooper’s honor.
The family would like to thank everyone who has offered support and encouragement during this difficult time, especially Cooper’s aunts and uncles that always helped over the years, his teachers, Mrs. Mathe and Mrs. Miller for helping Cooper grow, and Miss Jersey for always being available to spend time helping Cooper on his backyard adventures.
Life for Cooper’s family and friends is forever changed because his love was freely given and without it, life will never be the same. Mom and Dad feel so thankful and lucky for the time they had in the short time they were given. No amount of time will ever be long enough, but he made everyone’s life more exciting and fulfilled.
Mom always said, “Cooper was a force… He made his own rules, and he was not afraid of anything.” She hopes that someday, she can be half as brave, loving and bold as her son, Cooper Douglas McBride.
