Esther H. Bathke, age 87, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday afternoon March 1, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on October 14, 1918 in Oshkosh to Henry and Marie (Hartman) Fischer. Esther married Earl Bathke on April 20, 1940 in Oshkosh and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2000.
Esther was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and was known for her cookies, the grandsons will swear to this, along with cooking family meals. Esther was employed by Miles Kimball, Johnson Foods, and later by Oshkosh Public School System in the food preparation department.
Survivors include two daughters: Cheryl (Ken) Wentland of Sun Lakes, Arizona; Pamela (Ron) Culver of Cobb, Wisconsin; one son: Steven (Marsha) Bathke of Oshkosh; six grandsons: Douglas and Dennis Christiansen, Scott and Marc Bathke, Jason and Ryan Culver; four great-grandchildren: Erica, Brendan, Ethan, and Ella; four sisters: Lydia Demler, Alma Kosmer, Linda Steinhilber, and Mary Lisney all of Oshkosh.
Preceding Esther in death are her husband, parents, one son: Warren Bathke; one brother: Alex; three sisters: Ann, Elizabeth, and Leah.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Peace Lutheran Church, 240 West Ninth Ave, with Reverend Kathryn Schreitmueller officiating. Interment will follow the services at Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation and support will be held on Monday from 10:00 to11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials requested to Peace Lutheran Church in Esther's name.
