Obituary

Mrs. Frohnie Martin, of Bethel Lutheran Home in Oshkosh, was called to her eternal rest by her loving Savior, on Monday, March 13, 2006. Frohnie was born September 22, 1902 in Bear Creek, Wisconsin, the eldest child, of four children, of Leonard J. and Ida Clara (Roehl) Schmallenberg. After completing one year of high school, Frohnie worked as a cook and homemaker in New London and Milwaukee. She married Arthur J. Martin on February 28, 1925. They were blessed with six children.


Mrs. Martin was a long time member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the Women's Circle, the Forever Young Group, and a homemaker's club. Hobbies included sewing, cooking, craft making, and egg decorating.


Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur J. Martin; an infant daughter, Geraldine; two sons, the Reverend Leonard A. Martin and Robert R. Martin; grandson, Edmonds Martin; son-in-law, Paul Dickinson; and a brother Elmer Schmallenberg. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Dickinson of Aurora, Colorado; two sons, Thomas H. (Mary) Martin of Shreveport, Louisiana and Larry C. (Bernardette) Martin of Charleston, South Carolina; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Ruth (Rev. Leonard) Martin of Aurora, Colorado and Mrs. Lorraine (Robert) Martin of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brother, Irvin Schmallenberg of Shawano; and sister, Mrs. Edna Brauer of Wausau.


Funeral Services will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska Street, on Friday, March 31, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Gregg Schoeneck officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation and support at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grace Ev. Lutheran School, either the Library or Tuition fund.


The family wishes to express special thanks and appreciation to the Bethel Lutheran Home and it's wonderful staff on 1East for all the loving care they gave Frohnie during her years of residency.
