Gaylord Edmund Schumacher, age 73 died on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at his residence. Gaylord was born at home on July 7, 1932 in the town of Nekimi to Edwin and Edna (Schultz) Schumacher. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on Old Oregon Road in rural Oshkosh. He married Yvonne Marohn on July 23, 1955 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Oshkosh.
Gaylord was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1952-1954. He worked for Guernsey Dairy and Lee Beverage retiring in 1995. He was a founding member and past president of the Van Dyne Sportsman's Club and a former member of the Lakeshore Club and Ducks Unlimited. Gaylord also volunteered as a Van Dyne Firefighter. He was a proud father, trapshooting coach, country historian, and loved planting and harvesting crops on his brother Don's farm.
Gaylord is survived by his wife: Yvonne; daughter: Vicky (friend Thaddeus Danziger) of New York, New York; sons: Kevin, Todd (Carol Sullivan), Keith (Shelly) and Darin all of Oshkosh. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Emily Schumacher and Gabrielle Schumacher of Oshkosh and Benjamin Schumacher of Palm Harbor, Florida; two step grandsons: Jason and Joshua Cranfill of Oshkosh; brother: Don (Gloria) Schumacher of Van Dyne; sisters: Orma (Bill) Levenhagen of Oshkosh, Joanne (Mark) Willey of Van Dyne, Verna (Eugene) Miller of Oshkosh, and Sharon (Lee) Werner of Oshkosh; sisters-in-law: Mary Lou (Tom) Jones and Gert Marohn; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Lyle Schumacher; brothers-in-law: Hubert, Orville, and Norman Marohn; and sister-in-law: Amber Marohn.
Funeral services for Gaylord will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 7, 2006, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1745 Ohio Street, with Reverend Raymond Cox officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation and support at Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street, on Thursday, July 6, 2006 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again at the church on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. John's Cemetery on County Road I.
