Gene Carol Norkofski age 79, of Oshkosh, died at Lakeshore Manor on Saturday, July 22, 2006. She was born in Oshkosh on December 5, 1926 to the late Frederick and Norine (Demgen) Wetterau. On June 22, 1946 she married Warren "Norky" Norkofski. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2001.

Gene attended St. Vincent Catholic Church; a former member of the Business Women's Association and the VFW Auxiliary. She was a floral designer at Hrnaks Flowerland and The Garden Gate.

Gene is survived by four children: Michael (Ann) Norkofski of Neenah, Carol (Robert) Horton of Oshkosh, Dennis (Lindy) Norkofski of Oshkosh, and Timothy (Paula) Norkofski of Oshkosh; grandchildren: Scott (Heidi) Horton, Russell (Sarah) Horton, Kelly (Chris) Rehm, Jason (Dawn) Norkofski, Keith Norkofski, and Kaylene Norkofski; great-grandchildren: Hunter and Piper Horton; and step-great-granddaughter: Allix Anderson. Her sister: Donna (Earl) Rasmussen of Oshkosh and brother: Fred "Bill" (Pat) Wetterau of Viera, Florida further survive her. Her son: Thomas preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held for Gene at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 216 W. South Park Avenue, with Reverend William Van DeKreeke officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation and support at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
