George T. "Ted" Fredrick, age 74 of Oshkosh, surrounded by his loving family, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2007 from a short battle with cancer at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on March 23, 1933 in Oshkosh to George E. and Della (Vowels) Fredrick. George married Marjorie A. Ulrich on April 27, 1957 at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. They just celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss.
George served his county in the Air Force and then was employed by the Leach Company. He retired after 40-1/2 years of service. Shortly after retiring, he became a seasonal employee for the Winnebago County Parks Department. He took great pride in maintaining the soccer fields at the park. George loved doing things for his family, feeding his birds, camping, reading books and going for long rides. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
George is survived by his wife Marjorie of Oshkosh; his children: Dawn (Timothy) Gillett, Pickett; Jeffrey (Jeanne) Fredrick, Oshkosh and Patrick (Karen) Fredrick, Oshkosh. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Kirkland Gillett, Kyle Gillett, Robert Fredrick, Hannah Fredrick, Sydney Fredrick and Brady Fredrick. George is also survived by his brothers: Roger (Carol) Fredrick, Oshkosh; Clarence (Peggy) Fredrick, Oshkosh; Doug (Carla) Bringman, Florida; his brother-in-law, Larry (Cindy) Ulrich, Oshkosh; his sisters-in-law: Mary Scheer, Oshkosh; Barbara (Jerry) Clark, Oshkosh; Nancy (Thomas) Kubasta, Oshkosh; Dorothy Fredrick, Oshkosh and Bev Fredrick, Oshkosh. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Edwin and Charlotte Ulrich; his brothers, Jerry, Carl and Tom; his sister, Eva Mand and his brother-in-law, Floyd Scheer.
Funeral services for George will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, June 8th, at the Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels 1025 Oregon Street, Oshkosh, Pastor Nancy A. Krueger, officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors. George's family will greet friends and family during a time of visitation and support at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 4-8:00 PM and Friday beginning at 10:00 AM.
A memorial fund is being established in his name.
