Gerald P. Basel, age 67, of Omro, passed away peacefully at his home, on Wednesday, July 27, 2005. He was born to Theresa and Joseph Basel on April 14, 1938. He was educated and graduated high school in Omro. He married Roberta Burr on August 2, 1961, she preceded him in death on September 17, 2003. He was a dairy farmer until his retirement in April 2004. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading about Civil War history, and gardening, and recently spending time at the Omro Area Community Center.

He is survived and will be missed by his daughters, Wendy Basel of Milwaukee, and Leslie Basel of Seattle, Washington; brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Mary) Basel of Ripon, Barbara Malone of Madison, Patricia Basel of St. Paul, MN, Carol Garcia of Texas, Jeanie (Robert) Bodine of Maryland, Margaret (John) Flanagan of Red Granite, sisters in law, Sandy Basel of Oshkosh, and Justina Basel of Oshkosh; other relatives, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta, his parents, his brother, Tommy; his half brothers and sister, Edward Hartwig, Norbert, Leo, Donald, Edward Basel, and Anna Hartwig Basel.

Visitation will be held at the Omro Funeral Home on Saturday, July 30, 2005 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The funeral service will be held following the visitation at 12 noon, with Rev. Joseph Mattern officiating. Private family burial will take place at the Omro Cemetery.
