James Schaefer passed away on September 19, 2026, in King, WI. He was born on March 15, 1927, to parents, Oscar and Ann Schaefer, in MN.
Jim served in the United States Navy and upon return, he worked as an optometrist for many years.
He is survived by Tom (Kim Wachholz) Schaefer and their daughter, Sarah Schaefer. Jim is further survived by his son, John Schaefer and his children and grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his daughter, Kathy Schaefer; mother of children, Ruth Schaefer; parents, Oscar and Ann Schaefer; brother, Bob Schaefer and sister, Catherine.
Per his wishes, his final resting place will be at Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery in Oshkosh, WI.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his honor.
The family would like to thank the staff at King's Wisconsin Veterans Home and Heartland Hospice for all of their care over the last year.
