Jerome T. "Jerry" Ruedinger, age 74 of Oshkosh died at home on Saturday, July 1, 2006. He was born in Oshkosh December 19, 1931 the son of Oscar J. and Caroline J. (Binder) Ruedinger. He was educated at St. Vincent School and Oshkosh High School, graduating in 1950. After graduation he joined the Naval Reserve and was activated during the Korean Conflict. He served from 1951-1953 on the SS Rupertus in the Far East / Orient. Jerry was employed by United Airlines and worked in Sacramento, California, Milwaukee, and in Chicago. Jerry met Barbara Bydalek in Chicago and on May 2, 1959 they were married at Lowell, Indiana. He late was employed as an accountant for Hoffmaster Company and then as Office Manager at Precast Concrete Specialties in Omro until his retirement.
Jerry was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 292. He and his family enjoyed summer and weekend vacations around the country. Some of Jerry's interests were deer hunting, fishing, and trap shooting with good friend Don Leonard. He also took pleasure in playing cards, cribbage and blackjack. He enjoyed ten years of being "snowbirds' with his wife in Arizona and Florida.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years: Barbara; daughters: Karen (David) Manteufel of Wausau and Paula (Steven) Alberts of Rochester, Minnesota; son: Mark (Diana) Ruedinger of Two Rivers; Grandchildren: LT j.g. Daniel Manteufel of Two Rivers, Margaret Manteufel of Kenosha, Lydia Manteufel of Boston, Massachusetts, and Brian and Brice Ruedinger of Two Rivers. He is further survived by his brother: Kenneth (Audrey) Ruedinger; sisters: Lorraine "Poppy" (Richard) Hertzberg and Irene (George) Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jerry at 11:00 A.M. in Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 435 High Avenue, Father Robert Kollath officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation and support at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
