Chief Warrant Officer Joseph James Dimpfl, age 83, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. He was born in Oshkosh on July 27, 1929 the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Weiner) Dimpfl.
C.W.O. Dimpfl served as a Cartographer in the United States Army for over 25 years. He served in various Topographic units in the United States, Germany and the Far East.
On May 31, 1959 he married Erika Morgenstern in Schwetzingen, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Louise Dimpfl; his wives: Erika and Kathy; and his infant son, Joseph John.
He married Kathy Weyers on June 11, 1994. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2003.
Joe is survived by his daughters: Patricia (James) Koplitz, Carol Nardin, Linda (David) Zecha of Kansas and Jo Anne (Michael) Schulte of Nebraska; grandchildren: Erika Nardin,and Joe, Andrea and Danny Koplitz, Ryan (Becca) Zecha, Lisa (Walter) McNeil, Kim and Brenden Nothwehr, and Nathan Schulte and Sarah Schulte; great-grandson, Rowan McNeil; and brothers: George (Alice) and Edward Dimpfl.
Upon retirement from the U.S. Army he was employed at Oshkosh Truck Corp., and Miles Kimball, retiring from there in 1991.
Joe was a member of the Military officers Association of America, the Reserve Officer Association, the E.A.A., the V.F.W., and the Coalition of Retired Military Veterans.
The funeral service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012 at ST. ANDREW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1100 E. Murdock Ave., Oshkosh, with Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Park. A memorial fund in Joe's name is being established.
