Kathy Jean (Cartwright) Griswold, age 76, passed away on May 22, 2026, in Appleton, WI. She was born on July 30, 1949, to parents, Ronald Cartwright Sr. and Dorothy (Jury) Cartwright. One of five children.
She graduated from Oshkosh High School (Class of ’67) and went on to marry Earl Griswold, on September 7, 1973. Together, they raised her son, Keith Ryan Cartwright. Kathy and Earl spent many years together, until his passing in 2009. Kathy would say her greatest accomplishment was being a mom and being able to raise her son with an abundance of love and support.
Kathy was very good at crossword puzzles, often ordering them by the case. In her lifetime, she was able to complete nearly half a million of them—including some very thick volumes that were ordered by the case. Traveling was always an adventure, whether it was a day trip with her friends from Briarwood Cottages, visiting one of the 50 states or the time, in 1987, when she drove cross-country with her husband and son to Los Angeles and stopped at all the sites along the way.
She liked collecting gingerbread people, Dalmatians, and Route 66 collectibles. She also enjoyed watching The Del Ray’s preform around the Fox Valley. Kathy will be remembered for her love of laughter and her nurturing way.
She is survived by her son, Keith Ryan Cartwright; brothers, Ron (Cathy) Cartwright and Don Cartwright; several nieces, nephews, friends and other loved ones.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Earl Griswold, parents, Ronald Cartwright Sr. and Dorothy (Jury) Cartwright; sister, Judy Oesterreich; brother, Michael Cartwright; and her beloved dog, Bitzie.
