Lillian E. Elbing, age 88, of Oshkosh, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Bethel Home after a long illness. She was born on September 1, 1917 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to William and Alice (Roek) Borst. Lillian graduated from Zeeland High School in Zeeland, Michigan and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse.

On March 3, 1942 she married Raymond Elbing in New York City. While her husband served in the European Theatre during WWII, Lillian worked as a nurse at Holland Hospital, Holland, Michigan. In 1954 Ray and Lillian moved to Oshkosh and established the Elbing Animal Hospital. Lillian was a past member of First United Methodist Church and the Oshkosh Power Boat Club.

Lillian is survived by three sons and their families: David H and Susan
(Metzig) Elbing of Oshkosh, Dr. Paul and Becky (Kroog) Elbing, Amery, Wisconsin, and Steven and Susan (Johnson) Elbing of Neenah, Wisconsin. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kara (Rob) Main of Oshkosh, Patrick (Amanda) Elbing of Santa Cruz, California, Dustin Elbing of Duluth, Minnesota, Ryan Elbing of Minneapolis Minnesota, Jessica Elbing of Neenah, Wisconsin, Rachel, Sarah and Michael Elbing of Amery, Wisconsin, one great-granddaughter, Madeline Main of Oshkosh; sister-in-laws: Helen Elbing Moffat, Farmington Hills, Michigan, and Dorothy Borst, Zeeland, Michigan; as well as number nieces and nephews. Preceding Lillian in death are her husband, Ray, her sister Mae Borst, and her two brothers Henry and William Borst.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bethel Home Chapel, 225 North Eagle Street, with Chaplain Cathie Vander Velden officiating. A time of visitation and support will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the chapel. The family has requested memorials in Lillian's memory be made to the Boys and Girls Club Endowment at the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, 404 N. Main Street, Ste. 205, Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54901.
