Lillian M. Martin, age 86 of Oshkosh, died at Bethel Home on Saturday, February 25, 2006. She was born in Denver, Colorado on October 14, 1919, to the late Henry and Mollie (Troudt) Flohr. On October 20, 1937, she married Norman F. Martin. They enjoyed 47 years together before his death on May 3, 1984.
Lillian was a member of First English Lutheran Church. She was very hospitable, often sharing meals with those less fortunate than her. She was a dedicated worker. For 16 years, she was a manager at the American Legion. She was a baker who loved to cook. Her grandchildren would often ask for a loaf of bread for their birthday. She was known for her rye bread and canned tomato juice. In her youth she enjoyed ice-skating and volleyball. She looked forward to the Troudt family reunion every year.
Lillian is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Dennis) Schneider of Oshkosh and Renee (Fred) Stieg of Green Bay; grandchildren: Dennis (Debbie) Schneider of Oshkosh, Brian (Sheri) Schneider of Oshkosh, Dawn (Terry) McHugh of Oshkosh, Denise (Todd) Buettner of Shawano, Christian (Sandy) Stieg of Michigan, and Eric (Diana) Stieg of California. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren: Jessica Loos, Terry McHugh III, Christine Schneider, Danielle Schneider, Stephanie Schneider, Jason Schneider, Jacob Buettner, Samantha Stieg, Gabrielle Stieg, Grayson Stieg, and Ethan Stieg; and sister: Rachel Brown. Her sisters: Dorothy Schmidt and June Dickinson preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Lillian will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, in the chapel at Bethel Home, 225 North Eagle Street. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation and support at Bethel Home from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial is being established for Bethel Home and Unity Hospice in Green Bay.
