Malinda Koch Borchardt, age 91, of Omro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at Omro Care Center. Malinda was born in rural Omro on January 1, 1914 to Arnold and Lydia (Loppnow) Hubrig. She attended the Delhi School in rural Omro and graduated from Omro High School. After school she went to work as a nanny and housekeeper for several years. She married Clarence Koch on June 23, 1938 in Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka, he preceded her in death on April 18, 1972. She later married Rudolph Borchardt on October 11, 1975, he preceded her in death in September 1994. She enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing the vegetables she grew, later cooking them into her family's favorite dishes. She loved animals, she was a hard worker, doing farm chores and taking care of her family.
Malinda is loved and will be missed by her children, John (Karolyn) Koch of Oshkosh, Clarence "Butch" (Jo) Koch of Oshkosh and Marilyn (Steven) Hook of Winneconne; her grandchildren, Keith (Dana) Koch, Kevin (Carolyn) Koch, Kelly (Andrew) Spanbauer, Kendal Koch, Kim (Kirk) Hartman, Kristin (Norman, Jr.) Bock, Jeremy Hook, Justin Hook; her great grandchildren, Alex, Courtney, Amanda, Emily, Leo, Erika, Jamie, Michael, Collin, Mason, Isaac, Charles; and one expected August 24, 2005; her sister, Hilda Bieber of Omro; her stepchildren, Bernadine Lemke, Esther Lemke, Gilbert Borchardt, Lorina Fels, Luella Miller, Marvin Borchardt, Melvin Borchardt, Meinert Borchardt, Norbert Borchardt and Wilbert Borchardt, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence and Rudolph, son, Charles "Chuckie" Koch; sister, Irma Kilian; and stepson, Edward Borchardt.
Visitation for Malinda will be held on Friday, August 12, 2005 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Rev. John Brogaard will officiate. Burial will be at Omro Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
