Marian J. Wasser, age 85, of Oshkosh, died Thursday afternoon, April 12, 2007 at Bethel Home. She was born in Oshkosh on July 22, 1921, the oldest of three children, to Harvey Sr. and Esther (Traugott) Christensen. On August 23, 1941 Marian married Lloyd W. Wasser in Oshkosh and they were blessed with five children: Sally Cohen of Madison, Wisconsin, Kathleen (Terry) Raettig of Olympia, Washington, Patsy (Dan) Schroeder of Pocatello, Idaho, Martha (Tim) Sandholm of Merrill, Wisconsin, and Paul (Patricia) Wasser of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Marian was employed as a medical secretary at Sunnyview Tuberculosis Sanitarium, 1st National Bank, and later at the Oshkosh Mental Health Clinic until her retirement. Her intense interest in aviation translated into over ten years of voluntary service as a docent at the EAA Museum. Marian was a member of UW-Oshkosh Faculty Dames, First Congregational Church, the Women's Fellowship Auxiliary, and the 20th Century Club.
Marian is further survived by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Belsky of Sun City, Arizona; four sisters-in-law, Jean Christensen, Jean Malchman, Shirley Doman, Donna Barkman; and a brother-in-law, Richard (Pauline) Wasser. Preceding Marian in death are her husband, Lloyd in 1977, and a brother, Harvey Christensen, Jr.
Marian's family especially wishes to thank her cousins, Mildred and Wayne Ostwald, Bill Brink, and family friend Mary Lou Mueller, along with the staffs of Bethel Home and St. Elizabeth Hospital ICU for their loving, compassionate care of Marian.
Memorial funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Bethel Home, 225 North Eagle Street, with Reverend Ralph DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. A time for sharing of memories will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the chapel. A memorial is being established by her family in Marian's memory.
