Mathew L. Miller, age 93, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2005 at Evergreen Retirement Community. He was born on February 18, 1912 in Oshkosh, a son of the late Jacob and Mary (Pechman) Miller. Matt married Pauline Merkel on October 18, 1930. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1994. He had worked for and retired from the Badger Lumber Company after 50 years of service. Matt's passions were that of fly tying, fishing, wood working and time spent with family and friends. He was longtime faithful member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a son, Robert (Sandra) Miller of Blowing Rock, North Carolina; a brother, Donald J. (Dee) Miller of Oshkosh; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He is further survived by a daughter in law, Loretta Miller; a sister in law, Clara Schuhart; a brother in law, Louis Zernzach all of Oshkosh; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Donald Miller; a grandson, Mark Miller; seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Matthew will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 338 N. Eagle Street with Reverend David F. Pagel officiating. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Matt's name for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
