Opal M. Panske, age 84, of Oshkosh, died Monday morning, August 8, 2005 at Park View Health Center-Pleasant Acres. She was born on June 16, 1921 in Markesan, Wisconsin to William and Lottie (Pratt) Betts. Opal married Anthony J. Panske Sr. on October 12, 1976 in Oshkosh.
Opal was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Dartball League. She was a seamstress who enjoyed singing, dancing, and playing bingo.
Survivors include her husband: Anthony Panske Sr. of Oshkosh; two daughters: Diane (Mary Lou Winters) of Green Bay; Marcia Thompson of Oshkosh; one son: Harold (Sandra) Matsche of Gilroy, California; three grandchildren: Melanie (Fred) Gotelli of Gilroy, California; Mark Matsche of San Jose, California; Andrew (Karen) Thompson of Middleton, Wisconsin; four great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Kelsey, Natalie, and Corbin; two brothers: Gordon (Audrey) Betts of Oshkosh; Boyd (Mary Ann) Betts of Tennessee; one sister: Mavis (Donald) Longworth of Butte des Morts; seven brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry and Jane Panske, Merce Poklasny, Vince Panske, Ray and Barb Panske, and Lorraine Panske. Preceding Opal in death are her parents and two beloved dogs: Maudie and Bandit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1020 W. 6th Avenue, with Reverend Thomas Reynebeau officiating. Entombment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park Mausoleum following the funeral mass. A time of visitation and support will be held on Thursday from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials in Opal's memory are requested to Park View Health Center-Pleasant Acres. Opal's family thanks the staff at Pleasant Acres for the care given to Opal during her stay there.
