Obituary

Robert C. Stoll, age 87, of Oshkosh, died Wednesday evening, August 15, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Born on March 25, 1925, in Oshkosh, to Leon and Ella (Klitzke) Stoll, Robert married the former Norma Berndt at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Norma preceded Robert in death in 1984.
During WW II, Robert served in the U.S. Army with the 2nd Infantry Division, earning a Bronze Star at the Battle of the Bulge for valor during armed combat. A member of Peace Lutheran Church, Robert was a former Church Council Member and taught Sunday School for a number of years. He was a repairman and builder for church pipe organs, taking special care of the Peace Lutheran Church Organ. After retirement, Robert was a volunteer tutor in the public school system. He enjoyed playing sheepshead and cribbage along with working in his vegetable garden. Traveling to visit family members was a special time for Robert.
Surviving Robert's passing is his four children, Michael (Debra) Stoll of Worthington, Minnesota, Daniel (Barbara) Stoll of Doha, Qatar, David (Kathy) Stoll of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and John (Nancy) Stoll of Bothell, Washington; nine grandchildren, Steven, Andrew, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Jonathan, Ian, Dana, Jax, and Chewy; and two great-grandchildren, Keaten and Gabriella. Preceding Robert in death is his wife, parents, and a brother, Ralph Stoll.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. in Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W. 9th Ave, Oshkosh, with Reverend Ralph Hanusa officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church. Robert will be laid to rest next to Norma at Lake View Memorial Park with full military honors.
