Roland Clifford Cady, age 83, of Omro, but a resident of the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King for the past 15 years, passed away on Friday, August 04, 2017. He was born on October 21, 1933 in Omro, the son of the late Rexford and Connie Cady. He attended Omro Public Schools, and graduated from Omro High School. He worked at F. Butkiewicz and Sons as a machinist, until being drafted into the Navy in December of 1955, as a Machinery Repairman Third Class. Roland got married to Veronica Kurowski prior to starting his duty with the Navy. He served during the Korean War era, and was stationed for part of his service in San Diego, California. He was Honorably discharged in November of 1961 and took a civilian job with Aluminite Mfg. in Santa Maria, California. Roland moved to Goshen, Indiana as a manager for another division of Aluminite in 1963. He and his family moved back to Omro in 1965 to start his own business (home renovation, roofing, siding, windows, and awnings) with one of his long-time friends, Lyle Lewis. Roland went back to school for Auto Body repair in 1974 on his G.I. Bill, and changed his career to Auto Body Restoration in 1975. He loved the Auto Body business and shared that passion with his friend Larry Hunt until a stroke limited his ability to work in 2000. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Omro, a member of the Omro Lions Club, and donated time, energy, and money to many other clubs and organizations in town. He loved music, playing the piano, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and was known to the "whole" town as a fun-loving prankster. Roland is survived by his daughter, Michelle Bloom of Berlin; his sons, Daniel Cady of Delray, WV, Derril (Karen) Cady of Manawa, and Jeff Cady of Oshkosh. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Carrie (Dan) Fehring, Mandy Bucholtz-Baumann, Melissa (Sam) Egdorf, Joshua Cady, Nicole (Forest) Nett, and Cadi Raddatz; Great Grandchildren; Elizabeth Bucholtz-Draves, Alex Fehring, Kyle Baumann, Isaiah Fehring, Aubrey Egdorf, and Sadie Egdorf; and one Great-great-grandchild, Willow Bucholtz-Draves. Roland is also survived by his siblings: Marjorie (Ron) Lee, Plainfield, IL, Kenneth (Ruth) Cady, Omro, Gordon (Beverly) Cady, Pickett. Roland is preceded in death by his daughter Sheryl Raddatz of Redgranite.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the funeral home in Omro from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and then again on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. with Chaplain Wayne Schwanke from Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King officiating.
