Obituary

Ruth I. Rudolph, age 92, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at Bethel Home on Friday, July 27, 2012, with her loving family near. Ruth was born October 15, 1919 in Sturgeon Bay, to Henry and Bertha (Meikle) Fidler. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1937, then attended Lawrence University. She received her nursing degree from Deaconess Hospital, Milwaukee. Ruth served her country in the US Army Nurse Corps in Persia (Iran) during WWII. Upon her return, she graduated from Marquette University with a BS degree in nursing. Ruth married Milton Rudolph in Sturgeon Bay on December 9, 1950. She served as Dean of Nurses at Milwaukee Children's Hospital, was Assistant Public Health Nurse for Shawano County and School Health Nurse at West High School and North High School in Oshkosh, retiring in 1981. Ruth was a past president of Altrusa Club, a member of Retired Teachers Association, served on the Winnebago County Department of Social Services Foster Care Review Board and was a member of First English Lutheran Church. After retiring, she and Milt traveled together until his death in 1984. She always enjoyed watching sports on TV and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Ruth was a wonderful mom, gramma and great-gramma, who loved her family very much. We all knew we had a safe haven when we were wrapped in her warm and loving arms.

Ruth is survived by her children: Margaret (Bruce) Barr of Port Washington, David (Cynthia) Rudolph of Oshkosh, James (Lisa) Rudolph of Oshkosh, and Elizabeth "Candy" (Robert) Fenrich of Oshkosh; her grandchildren Alissa (Lucas) Schade of Oshkosh, Emily (Jared) Olson of Sioux City, Iowa, Courtney (Brian) Lammey of Oshkosh and Elliott Fenrich; great grandchildren, Lucia & Vivienne Schade and Isabella & Broderick Lammey ; sister in law, Laura Fidler of Green Bay; other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, and best friend, Milt; brothers, Frederick Fidler and Clyde Fidler; sisters, Verna Wilson, Mildred Conjurske and Doris Burr.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:30 p.m. at the Bethel Home Chapel, 225 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh. Ruth will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh's Bethel Home and her many friends from Carmel Residence. Mom was a supportive and encouraging presence in our lives. She always had a smile for her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.
