W. Kenneth Watts, formerly of Oshkosh, WI passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 26, 2011, in Delafield,WI. He was born July 18, 1917, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Kenneth moved to the states, with his family, as a young man.
Kenneth grew up in Milwaukee and graduated with a B.S. Degree from Marquette University in 1940, and an M.S. Degree in Chemistry and Physics in 1942. That same year, he married June McPherson. While living in Milwaukee, he worked in manufacturing and engineering firms, both in production and in sales. He was a registered Professional Engineer.
In 1958, they moved to Oshkosh, WI, when he become Executive Vice-President of Frank Leach Hardware. The company name was changed to Metal Fabricators upon moving to a new location. He retired in 1982.
After the death of his wife, June, he married Marian P. Kilpatrick in 1974. She preceded him in death in 2009. He is survived by his three daughters, Holly W. Hamblin (Curtis) of Dickson, TN, Kathleen W. Gunz (James) of Neenah, WI, Pamela A. Rheingans (James) of Delafield, WI, and two step-children Frank S. Kilpatrick (Linda) of Manhattan, Beach, CA, and Joan K.Bryant (Vincent) of Carmel, IN. He also had seven grandchildren, Heather Giese (Scott) of Dickson,TN, Kelly Gunz of Newton, MA, Hillary Merry (Steve) of Zena, OH, Christopher Surguine (Robin) of Chicago, IL, Nicholas Surguine of Dallas, TX, Sarah Nordberg (Nathaniel) of Elk River, MN, James Rheingans of Delafield, WI, and two great grandchildren, Brenna Giese, and Isobel Nordberg.
While living in Oshkosh, Kenneth was an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, where he served in various offices within the church. He also participated in many volunteer activities in the community including the Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau, Campfire Girls, YMCA, the William Steiger Addition to the Sawyer Museum, Oshkosh United Fund, Friends of the Library, and docent and usher at the Grand Opera House, where he served on their Advisory Board. He was also active in the Oshkosh Downtown Rotary Club, and served as its President in 1979, and on the Board of Director's for Clearview Home Corporation, a Christian Science facility in Delafield, WI.
Kenneth and his wife moved to Cedar Ridge, an independent living community for Christian Scientists, in Oconomowoc, WI, in 2003. He was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Hartland, WI. He was also a member of the Mother Church, in Boston.
In keeping with Kenneth's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Following cremation, his remains will be interned at Graceland Cemetery, Milwaukee.
